The position became vacant following the expiration of the tenure of former CEO Babar Majeed Bhatti. In parallel, the Prime Minister’s Office had instructed the Ministry of IT to seek federal cabinet approval for the reinstatement of the NITB.

The final decision regarding the reversal of the earlier move to dissolve NITB now rests with the Federal Cabinet.
