The Punjab Home Department has launched a province-wide awareness campaign to protect minors from sexual abuse, following directives from the chief minister. The initiative focuses on educating children about the concepts of “good touch” and “bad touch” through an engaging animated series.
The campaign’s first episode introduces two animated characters, Haya and Bahadur, who guide young viewers in recognizing safe and unsafe physical interactions. The content is designed to be child-friendly, using polite and age-appropriate language to ensure children understand the importance of personal safety and early reporting.
Carrying the message, “We won’t fear those who attempt bad touch; we’ll confront them,” the campaign encourages children to speak up about any inappropriate behavior they may encounter.
A spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “Educating children about personal safety is the need of the hour. This campaign not only raises awareness among children but also encourages parents and teachers to actively guide them on how to report abuse, whether it happens at home, school, or elsewhere.”
The campaign will be implemented across schools, community centers, and digital platforms to ensure it reaches as many children and families as possible.
