Summer Vacations Announced for Islamabad Schools and Colleges

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has officially declared the summer vacation schedule for all educational institutions under its jurisdiction in Islamabad.

According to a notification issued on May 23, summer break will begin on June 5, 2025, and continue until August 1, 2025. All schools and colleges will resume classes on Monday, August 4, 2025.

To adjust for the upcoming break, single-shift schools will operate from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM starting May 26. Institutions with double shifts have been advised to revise their evening schedules accordingly.

The FDE has also instructed school heads to manage several key tasks during the summer vacation, including:

  • Assigning homework to students based on previously provided samples
  • Ensuring teacher participation in scheduled training sessions
  • Updating data on the Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS)
  • Carrying out repairs and maintenance on school buildings
  • Keeping administrative offices open from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM
  • Continuing undergraduate classes as per the academic calendar
  • Supporting various project activities such as IT-related work, Summer Fiesta events, and tech boot camps
  • Keeping libraries and IT labs accessible to students throughout the vacation

Heads of Institutions (HoIs) and Area Education Officers are instructed to ensure all directives are implemented in letter and spirit.
