Arshad Nadeem Reaches Final of Javelin Event in the Asian Athletics Championships

Pakistan’s javelin sensation Arshad Nadeem has booked his place in the men’s javelin throw final at the Asian Athletics Championships 2025, thanks to a powerful opening effort in the qualifying round.

Competing in South Korea’s city of Gumi, the Olympic champion wasted no time in making his mark. His first attempt of 86.34 meters was not only good enough to qualify but comfortably placed him at the top of the qualifying round heading into the final, which will be held on May 31.

Sri Lanka’s Rumseh Tharanga Pathirage qualified second with a throw of 83.71 meters, with Japan’s Yuta Sakiyama qualifying third with his personal best throw of 81.36 meters.

Arshad’s qualification wasn’t just expected—it was emphatic. Having emerged as a national icon in recent years, his latest performance is a reminder of the consistency and world-class ability he brings to the field. He will now look to add the Asian title to a list of accolades that continues to grow.

However, Arshad Nadeem will not be the only Pakistani in the javelin final of the 26th Asian Athletics Championships. Muhammad Yasir will join his countryman after squeezing into the final with a commendable effort as well.

Now, all eyes turn to May 31, when Arshad, the reigning Asian Athlete of the Year, will return to the field for the final. Pakistan fans will be hoping their champion can rise once again, with another golden moment to add to his already impressive legacy.

Win or lose, Arshad Nadeem’s place in the history of Pakistani athletics is secure. But with form like this, he may just be getting started.
