The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has revealed that several provincial and federal government departments are major defaulters, collectively owing Rs3.71 billion in unpaid gas bills. Hospitals are at the top of this list, with total outstanding dues reaching Rs1.41 billion, according to company officials.
Reminder notices have been issued to public sector organizations, urging immediate payment to avoid legal or administrative action. Final notices were previously served in April 2025.
Hospitals under the Punjab government owe the largest share at Rs1.12 billion, followed by federal government hospitals at Rs183.62 million and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) hospitals at Rs106.08 million.
Other major defaulters include police departments, with total dues of Rs499.7 million, and jails, which owe Rs607.5 million. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) owes Rs251.2 million, while the Public Works Department (PWD) and educational institutions owe Rs141.6 million and Rs115.28 million, respectively. Miscellaneous government institutions have accumulated Rs685.8 million in unpaid bills.
SNGPL has emphasized the need for all entities to clear their dues promptly, warning that further action will be taken if payments are not made.
