Punjab Imposes Section 144 for Eid

Punjab has banned unregistered groups from collecting sacrificial skins on Eid-ul-Adha and placed strict limits on public activities to keep things safe and orderly.

Section 144 has been imposed across Punjab, with the Home Department issuing strict orders to ensure public safety and environmental protection. Under these restrictions, no banned organization will be allowed to collect sacrificial animal skins during Eid. Only organizations registered with the Punjab Charity Commission are permitted to receive skins.

The orders also prohibit burning the remains of sacrificial animals in public places, swimming, bathing, and boating in rivers, lakes, canals, and dams. Dumping animal waste or dung into manholes, drains, or canals is banned, as is the buying and selling of sacrificial animals outside approved livestock markets.

Section 144 will also remain in force on the display of weapons and ammunition. These restrictions will be effective from Thursday, June 5, to Wednesday, June 11.

According to the Punjab Home Department, these measures have been taken to protect human lives and improve environmental conditions during the Eid period. Violations of these orders will result in legal action.
