The Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner has imposed a ban on drone operations and related activities within a five-kilometer radius of Islamabad International Airport, Nur Khan (Chaklala) Airbase, and Qasim Airbase. The decision aims to reduce the risk of bird strikes and ensure aviation safety.
The restrictions also cover pigeon flying, keeping pigeons in large cages, kite flying, and the disposal of garbage or animal remains, especially from sacrificial animals, near airport premises and aircraft landing or takeoff zones. Violators will face legal action and possible arrest.
The ban was announced following a meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Ehsan Tariq, who ordered immediate enforcement. Authorities have been directed to begin inspection and monitoring operations to ensure strict compliance.
The meeting also addressed cleanliness around the airports during Eid ul Adha, with special focus on areas such as Khurram Colony, Sadiqabad, Koral Chowk, Dhok Hafiz, and Chah Sultan. Relevant departments have been instructed to maintain hygiene and proper waste management in these locations.
