The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has secured court decisions in its favour in long-pending tax cases amounting to Rs. 36.14 billion, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance on Monday.
The Islamabad High Court last week ruled in favour of FBR in three major cases, including one involving Bahria Town (Private) Limited, where the court upheld the recovery of Rs. 26.446 billion. This case had been under litigation for more than two years.
The remaining Rs. 9.7 billion was recovered through favourable verdicts in two other corporate tax cases, also pending before various appellate forums for over two years.
The Finance Ministry said these outcomes mark a significant step in unlocking “trillions of rupees” previously held up in legal disputes and reinforce the government’s economic reform agenda.
The FBR’s legal performance was credited to focused efforts under direct instructions from the Prime Minister, who had emphasized accelerating legal proceedings in revenue-related matters.
