Microsoft Bing Now Has a Free AI Video Generator

Microsoft is shaking up its Bing search engine once again, this time by integrating an AI-powered video generator directly into the platform. Dubbed Bing Video Creator, this tool uses OpenAI’s Sora to produce short video clips from simple text prompts. The new, free feature is already available on the Bing mobile app, with plans for a later debut on desktop and within Copilot Search.

This move comes as no surprise, as Microsoft has poured multiple billions of dollars into OpenAI over the years to fuel its ambitious artificial intelligence projects. The tech giant previously brought OpenAI’s DALL-E image generation capabilities to Bing in 2023, so the inclusion of Sora’s video tool only makes sense.

Despite its groundbreaking capabilities, Sora’s debut hasn’t been entirely smooth. Its launch was met with controversy, including a stern warning from YouTube’s CEO, who warned against using its vast video library for training purposes. Additionally, the model faced criticism and protests from several of its early testing participants.

Sora ultimately became broadly available at the end of last year. However, it now competes with rivals from other AI video models that boast more advanced features, such as Google’s Veo 3, though it is probably only a matter of time before OpenAI releases an update for Sora to keep up with the growing competition. As to when that update is coming, there is no way of knowing just yet as there have been no announcements from OpenAI so far.
