Govt to Establish 5 New Universities Across Pakistan

The Federal Government has earmarked over Rs. 9 billion for the development of five public sector universities in the upcoming Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) ahead of the 2025-26 federal budget.

According to official document available with ProPakistani, here is a breakdown of allocations:

  • University of Sahiwal has been allocated Rs. 1.37 billion. The project was initially approved by the DDWP in 2020.
  • Women University Bagh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, will receive Rs. 1.80 billion, with its project having been approved by the CDWP in 2016.
  • FATA University is set to obtain Rs. 1.76 billion. This project received CDWP approval in 2015.
  • University of Chitral has been allocated Rs. 1.72 billion, following DDWP approval in 2020.
  • University of Gwadar will receive the highest allocation of Rs. 2.49 billion among the five. This initiative was approved by the CDWP in 2022.
