The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has apprehended five individuals, including a British citizen and a woman, during a series of anti-drug operations across Pakistan, seizing over 25 kilograms of narcotics with an estimated street value of Rs 2.51 million.
According to a spokesperson from ANF Headquarters, six separate operations were carried out in recent days, targeting drug trafficking networks operating via airports, highways, courier services, and public transport.
In one of the high-profile busts, a British national was arrested at Peshawar Airport while attempting to travel to Birmingham. Authorities recovered 461 grams of heroin from the suspect.
Other key seizures include:
- 4.8 kilograms of hashish hidden inside an air conditioner unit at a courier service in Peshawar, destined for Orangi Town, Karachi.
- 4.5 kilograms of hashish were found in a vehicle on RCD Road in Hub.
- 10.8 kilograms of hashish recovered from two passengers, including a woman, aboard a public transport vehicle near the Islamabad Motorway Toll Plaza.
- 3.6 kilograms of hashish were seized from a car near Havelian Interchange, Hazara, with two suspects taken into custody.
- 1.2 kilograms of hashish recovered from two individuals near Islamabad Motorway Toll Plaza.
All suspects have been booked under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, and investigations are ongoing to identify further links in the trafficking network.
Meanwhile, Karachi Police have uncovered a new smuggling trend in the city. Drug traffickers, previously reliant on courier services, are now using motorbike delivery riders to distribute marijuana (weed).
The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) recently arrested a suspect named Abdul, who provided key intelligence about the operation. Authorities believe this method was also used by Armaghan, the main accused in the Mustafa Amir murder case, to distribute drugs across Karachi.
Officials say these developments reflect the evolving tactics of drug networks and reaffirm their commitment to continued crackdowns.
