The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) launched an early morning crackdown at key entry points of Lahore, discarding 3,000 liters of adulterated milk following on-the-spot quality checks, officials said Saturday.
According to PFA Director General M. Asim Javaid, 206 milk delivery vehicles were inspected during the operation. Twelve were fined a combined total of over Rs. 160,000 after failing to meet quality standards.
A total of 218,000 liters of milk was examined, with substandard batches found to be diluted with water and containing low fat content.
“These vehicles were attempting to supply this fake milk to Lahore and nearby areas,” said the DG. The inspection points were set up at Gajjumata, Saggian, Babu Sabu, Shahdara, Multan Road, and Adda Plot.
He added that milk transport vehicles are only allowed to proceed once they pass mandatory quality checks. “Misleading consumers in the name of milk is a serious offense, and we will not tolerate it under any circumstances,” he said.
The PFA has established permanent daily checkpoints at major city entry points to intercept substandard milk supplies. Citizens are encouraged to report food-related complaints by calling the PFA helpline at 1223.
