Women in 12 Punjab Districts to Get Free Cows and Buffaloes

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a Rs. 2 billion livestock distribution program aimed at supporting widows and poor women in South Punjab.

In the first phase of the initiative, 4,870 cows and buffaloes will be given to around 11,000 women across twelve districts. The goal is to empower them economically by enabling small-scale businesses like milk sales or cattle rearing.

Beneficiaries from districts including Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Layyah, Kot Addu, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Vehari, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bahawalpur will receive the livestock free of cost.

Widows and divorced women aged 55 and above can apply for the program using a mobile application from the comfort of their homes. They may also contact the Chief Minister Helpdesk set up at veterinary hospitals for assistance.

Speaking at the launch, Maryam Nawaz said, “We want to eliminate the gap between urban and rural areas. A woman in a village deserves the same opportunities as one in a city.”

She added that every woman has the fundamental right to access education, healthcare, and employment, regardless of where she lives.
