Pakistan Railways has finalized an agreement with the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) to manage sanitation at Lahore Railway Station and Cantt Railway Station.
Under the contract, LWMC will maintain cleanliness at both stations for a monthly fee of Rs6 million. A formal MoU signing ceremony was held at the Railways Headquarters to mark the partnership.
CEO of Pakistan Railways, Amir Ali Baloch, stated that maintaining cleanliness at railway stations has long been a persistent challenge. To address this, the department has opted to outsource sanitation services.
“In the first phase, stations like Rawalpindi and Chaklala were outsourced, followed by Multan and Khanewal. Now, we’re extending the same model to Lahore and Cantt stations,” he explained.
He added that in the upcoming phase, Raiwind and Okara railway stations will also be brought under outsourced sanitation services.
