Train Tickets Can Soon Be Purchased Using Debit and Credit Cards

Pakistan Railways has partnered with Allied Bank Limited to roll out a modern Point of Sale (POS) system at 348 railway stations across the country.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two entities on Monday, marking a major step toward automation and improved passenger service.

Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi said the initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s “Digital Pakistan” vision and is expected to be completed within 60 days.

“Passengers will soon be able to pay for tickets and other services using debit and credit cards,” he said, adding that the system will reduce reliance on cash and manual processes.

The minister said the POS system will eliminate long queues and streamline commercial transactions, improving efficiency across the board. He also noted that the digitization will help Pakistan Railways curb revenue leakages, financial fraud, and accounting errors.
