A teen TikToker, Mehak Shehzadi, was shot and killed by her father in Rawalpindi after she refused to delete her account. The incident occurred in the Dhok Chaudhrian, Takht Pari area under the jurisdiction of Rawat Police Station.
According to police reports, the accused, identified as Ikhlaq Ahmed, demanded that his daughter remove her TikTok profile.
When she refused, he opened fire, fatally wounding her before fleeing the scene. The family initially tried to claim the death was a suicide, but police investigations and forensic evidence confirmed it was a case of murder.
A First Information Report (FIR) was registered on the complaint of Head Constable Shahbaz Anjum Kayani, and police have since launched a search operation to apprehend the suspect.
Mehak Shehzadi was a matric student and had a significant following on TikTok and Instagram. Her killing has sparked outrage and renewed debate over the dangers faced by young women on social media platforms in Pakistan.
This tragic incident is eerily similar to the murder of another TikTok influencer, Sana Yousuf, in Islamabad. Sana, a 17-year-old MBBS student with over a million followers, was shot dead in her home by a 22-year-old man, Omar Hayat, after she rejected his advances. The suspect was arrested within 20 hours, and the murder weapon was recovered.
