Two individuals were injured in an attempted robbery near Thak Deweray on the Jalkhand-Babusar Road in the Diamer district.
According to initial reports, unidentified assailants tried to intercept a Toyota Fortuner (registration APU 15) traveling from Sargodha to Skardu. The vehicle was carrying eight passengers, including women.
When the driver refused to stop, the suspects opened fire on the vehicle. As a result, two passengers—Rana Nadeem and Mujtaba, both residents of Sargodha—sustained injuries.
The victims were promptly shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition.
Local authorities have launched an investigation and increased patrols in the area, which is a popular route for tourists and travelers heading to Gilgit-Baltistan.
The incident has raised concerns about security on the Jalkhand-Babusar Road, especially during the busy summer travel season.
No arrests have been reported so far, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
