The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has announced a 10% discount on token tax payments for vehicle owners, offering relief to those who clear their dues before the August 30 deadline.
According to Excise officials, the rebate applies to token tax payments for the current financial year. However, they cautioned that once the relaxation period ends, full tax amounts will be charged without any discounts.
While this relief brings some ease for motorists, transfer fees for vehicles and motorcycles have been revised upward across the province.
According to a report by City42, the transfer fee for motorcycles has gone up by Rs. 55 — from Rs. 550 to Rs. 605. For cars with engine capacities between 650cc and 1000cc, the fee has been increased by Rs. 275, now totaling Rs. 3,025.
Vehicles between 1000cc and 1800cc will now incur a Rs. 6,050 fee — up by Rs. 550. Those over 1800cc face a rise of Rs. 1,100, with the new rate set at Rs. 12,100. Heavy Transport Vehicles (HTVs) also see a Rs. 550 increase, now paying Rs. 6,050.
