A civil engineer has approached the Sindh High Court (SHC) after being mistakenly flown to Saudi Arabia instead of Karachi by a private airline from Lahore earlier this month.
Petitioner Malik Shahzain Ahmed filed a plea seeking compensation and a detailed inquiry into the incident. He named AirSial, along with the Ministry of Aviation, Civil Aviation Authority, Airport Security Force, and Federal Investigation Agency, as respondents.
According to the petition, Ahmed had purchased a domestic AirSial ticket for Lahore to Karachi on July 7, but was wrongfully boarded on an international flight to Jeddah despite lacking a passport, visa, or clearance for international travel.
He stated that he was detained and interrogated at Jeddah Airport before being deported back to Lahore, without any support from the airline. He was later forced to buy a new ticket to Karachi.
His counsel argued the incident caused financial loss, mental distress, and reputational damage, while also exposing him to legal risk abroad. The petition also claimed violation of aviation laws and failure of regulatory bodies to ensure basic travel protocols.
The petitioner urged the court to suspend the airline’s license and ensure proper implementation of travel SOPs.
AirSial did not respond despite several attempts.
