The federal government is working on a plan to create 838 new vacancies in the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) as cybercrime complaints continue to rise across Pakistan.
According to a national daily, the proposal was sent by the Director General NCCIA through the Ministry of Interior. The Establishment Division has already supported the plan, while the matter is now being reviewed by the Finance Division.
The new posts are being planned to improve the agency’s investigation and response capacity. Officials said NCCIA’s current staff is facing growing pressure due to an increase in online fraud, financial scams, digital harassment, and other cybercrime cases.
The proposed vacancies include positions in investigation, cyber security, software, network security, legal, accounts, forensics, counseling, field operations, and administration.
Under the plan, 32 posts are expected to be created in BS-18, while 50 posts will be added in BS-17. These include Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors in different technical and investigation-related fields.
A major part of the hiring will focus on field staff. The proposed posts include 133 Inspectors, 97 Sub-Inspectors, 123 Head Constables, 174 Constables, and 64 Constable Drivers.
The agency is also expected to get additional support staff, including superintendents, technical assistants, steno-typists, upper division clerks, and lower division clerks.
The recruitment process will move forward after final approval from the Finance Division, which is currently reviewing the financial impact of the proposed posts.
