The Punjab government on Thursday imposed a ban on bathing in accumulated rainwater across the province, citing public safety concerns. The restriction, effective immediately, will remain in place for 45 days unless withdrawn earlier.
According to a notification issued by the Punjab Home Department, Section 144 has been enforced to prevent individuals from bathing or swimming in rainwater collected on streets, roads, open areas, and other low-lying zones.
The decision comes amid ongoing monsoon rains that have caused widespread water accumulation in urban and rural areas.
The ban also extends to swimming in dams, rivers, canals, ponds, lakes, and distributaries. Additionally, boating by any unauthorised person or for unauthorised purposes in these water bodies has been prohibited.
