Pakistan is pursuing a trade agreement with the United States and has dispatched multiple senior officials to Washington to finalize the long-standing trade deal, reported Bloomberg.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is currently in the US for a United Nations Security Council event and is expected to meet with US officials, including State Department representatives. US State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce confirmed her participation in the upcoming discussions.
In parallel, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has held meetings in Washington with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer to advance negotiations.
Pakistan has offered to increase its imports of cotton and soybeans to strengthen trade ties. The US remains Pakistan’s largest export market.
The push for a trade agreement comes amid improvements in US-Pakistan relations, marked by recent high-level engagements.
