Under the vision of “Safe Punjab” by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has officially launched a groundbreaking initiative to integrate private surveillance cameras into its central security system.
This initiative enables cameras installed at offices, shops, petrol stations, and commercial centers to become part of the Safe City network. Citizens can now contribute to building a safer society by linking their security cameras to the system. Upon receiving a request, the Safe City team will verify the details and then provide access to a dedicated application.
Importantly, only the cameras that citizens explicitly authorize will be integrated into the system. The process places a strong emphasis on individual consent and the protection of personal privacy.
According to a PSCA spokesperson, the integration of private cameras will significantly enhance the reach and effectiveness of the Safe City surveillance system, creating a more secure environment across Punjab.
