With increasing public concern over climate change and environmental degradation, a major local beverage company has launched a new eco-friendly bottle, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s packaging industry.
Cola NEXT, a proudly Pakistani brand, announced on Tuesday the introduction of a new sustainable PET bottle that uses 8-10% less plastic than standard bottles. The company claims the initiative puts it ahead of several multinational competitors in terms of environmentally responsible packaging.
At the heart of this innovation is the introduction of a 26/22 cap design, which replaces the conventional 1881 version. The new cap not only ensures better sealing and product freshness but also reduces plastic usage, further helping to cut the brand’s overall environmental footprint.
“This new bottle is not just packaging, it’s a step towards addressing some of the most critical environmental challenges facing Pakistan, including air pollution, marine waste, and excessive plastic consumption,” a Cola NEXT spokesperson said.
According to the company, the design is part of a broader strategy to support national efforts toward sustainability. Cola NEXT is also investing in solar-powered factories and energy-efficient machinery to cut emissions during production.
Other features of the bottle include improved durability and resistance during transport and storage, making it practical for wide-scale commercial distribution while maintaining a reduced environmental impact.
Future projections by the company aim to cut plastic usage in packaging by up to 30% as part of an evolving sustainability roadmap.
The company said that by offering this environmentally conscious alternative, it hopes to inspire other manufacturers and encourage consumers to make climate-responsible choices.
