The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced a major plan to upgrade Islamabad’s Diplomatic Enclave, focusing on improved security, better infrastructure, and enhanced facilities for foreign missions.
The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The upgrade follows directives from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
Key features of the plan include:
All entry and exit points will be redesigned and fitted with advanced surveillance systems. CCTV cameras will be installed at key checkpoints, fully linked to the Safe City system for real-time monitoring.
To promote a healthier environment, cycling tracks and a sports complex will be added. Plans also include food courts, kiosks, and a multi-purpose event hall for improved convenience.
Randhawa stressed the need for timely completion and high-quality work, calling the enclave “a reflection of Pakistan’s national image.” He added that the development will improve daily operations for embassies and boost Islamabad’s global standing.
The enclave hosts dozens of embassies and is among the capital’s most secure zones. The CDA’s plan aims to make it more efficient, attractive, and welcoming.
