In a major step toward combating air pollution, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the arrival and assembly of the world’s first field-tested dust suspension system in Lahore.
The cutting-edge setup includes 15 advanced Anti-Smog Guns designed to significantly reduce harmful particles in the air.
These high-powered fog cannons are engineered to spray ultra-fine water mist into the atmosphere, targeting pollutants like PM2.5 and PM10. The mist binds with airborne particles, forcing them to settle and improving air quality in densely populated urban areas.
The Anti-Smog Guns will be deployed across Lahore and fully integrated with Punjab’s real-time air quality monitoring network. In a first-of-its-kind system, the machines will automatically activate whenever pollution levels spike, based on data collected from satellites, drones, and AI-powered tools.
The initiative is also linked to QR-coded brick kilns and Punjab’s Environment Protection Force, making it one of the most comprehensive environmental enforcement programs globally.
“This is a major leap forward in our fight against smog,” said CM Maryam Nawaz in a statement posted on X. “With resolve, technology, innovation, and citizens’ participation, we will together, Insha’Allah, win the fight against smog.”
