The Pakistani auto market is set for the entry of a potentially game-changing electric SUV with a range of over 1,100 kilometers.
The Forthing Friday REEV, which will be introduced by Capital Smart Motors, boasts an impressive total range of 1,150 kilometers.
However, there’s a slight catch. The car offers around 600 kilometers of electric-only range, with an additional 550 kilometers provided by a range-extending system—bringing the total claimed range to approximately 1,150 kilometers.
A range extended electric vehicle (REEV) is a type of electric vehicle that primarily runs on electricity stored in a battery pack. It differs from a standard battery electric vehicle (by including a range extender, typically a small internal combustion engine, that acts as a generator to recharge the battery when it gets low.
This allows for a longer driving range than a standard EV without needing to rely solely on external charging.
Forthing is a brand of passenger vehicles produced by Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, a subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor Group in China.
The vehicle is expected to be officially launched in the Pakistani market sometime in the middle of the current month. More details are likely to emerge in the coming days.

There is a very weak infrastructure available for EV in Pakistan. Availability of stable electricity in major few cities like Islamabad is nightmare. During monsoon season, in Islamabad 3 phase electricity not available and mostly one phase is not coming, power is fluctuating and hundreds of cases reported for electricity meters burning. This is a true picture of capital of Pakistan and you can imagine other big cities. Financial cost (Price of EV) and electricity cost/charging cost does not justify in comparison of fuel base or hybrid cars besides unfavourable conditions of electricity.

Half of the time there is no electricity in my area in the twin cities. Shall I charge an EV with UPS?
Utter nonsense promoting EVs in a country where there are disruptions to electricity 24 hours and roads are full of potholes.
Still too much of variety in eVs. All eVs are priced, suitable only for filthy rich or corruption rich. Nothing for the 95% of Pakistanis.
Chinese SUVs, EVs and REEVs price is very very cheap world wide, but in Pakistan, the importing goons,pay very hi commission, bribes,kick backs to establishment, for unfair profit,as compared to their brothers in India,so the price of EVs,SUVs,increase by 10 folds in the 4th world state, with 46% poverty,ie not a single meal daily, for 120 million tax payers.

Congratulations… will get latest PHEV (range extender) junk for different makes & types. With all (fake) specification (range, power, fuel average) based upon battery fully charged. Otherwise, it just carries dead weight, battery that can explode (thermal runaway reaction) and capacity deteriorates. Without after sales support, spares, reliability, no resale, battery disposal will be environmental nightmare !
In case the importing goons don’t pay establishment, bribes,commission, kick backs,to increase extra profit,the very cheap and disposable SUVs from China will be much more cheaper than in Afhanistsn,Iran and Srilanka,as U have no comparison with Gulf,regarding Chinese REEVs, in price,very very cheap in Gulf.

Only for the upper classes, almost all of citizens here can’t even afford it, would be a miracle if the price would be set to a suitable amount for its citizens
There are several points of concern.
1. What is the price.
2. The batteries life will start reducing as soon as I buy it, from 600 to 550 to 500 km and so on.
3. If I go to my village, 750 km away and cannot find a charging port on the way, what is the point.
4. The depreciation as will be thrice as fast.
5. The quality and replacement cost of the batteries? People who bought the electric motorbike have been burned.
So count me out for now.
