The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has invited bids for the repair and maintenance of House No. 36 located in the Ministers’ Enclave, Islamabad. The project, estimated at a cost of Rs. 47 million, has drawn attention amid ongoing calls for austerity in government spending.
According to the tender notice, only well-reputed firms registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) under category C-5 or above for project code 2025 are eligible to participate. The earnest money for the bid has been set at Rs. 1,420,252. Bids will be opened publicly on August 18, 2025, in the presence of the CDA Procurement Committee.
Sources within the CDA confirmed that House No. 36 has been allotted to Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi. Although allotted in March 2024, the minister has not yet taken residence in the property.
Widespread Allotments at Ministers’ Enclave
In addition to House No. 36, the federal government has allotted 42 other houses and luxury apartments in the Ministers’ Enclave to both cabinet and non-cabinet members.
Apart from houses, several luxury apartments in the enclave have also been allotted to senior government figures.
Public Concerns Over High Expenditure
The Rs. 47 million repair cost for House No. 36 has raised concerns in various quarters, particularly as the country continues to face economic difficulties.
With increasing calls for fiscal discipline and government austerity, critics argue that such high spending on elite accommodations sends the wrong signal to the public.
