The Karachi Traffic Police is preparing to launch a new digital enforcement system that will monitor traffic violations through high-definition cameras instead of on-ground officers.
Called the Faceless Traffic Regulation and Citation System (TRACS), the initiative is expected to begin soon in the city.
Under this system, traffic violations will be detected automatically by surveillance cameras. Once a violation is recorded, an e-ticket with photo evidence will be generated and delivered directly to the violator’s home address.
Officials say the move is aimed at improving transparency, reducing corruption, and modernizing how traffic laws are enforced. “No more arguments—every challan will come with proof,” reads the campaign’s slogan, reflecting the system’s goal of ensuring accountability.
The new process is designed to make things easier for citizens and tougher on repeat offenders. A 50% discount will be offered if the challan is paid within 14 days, but fines will double after 21 days.
Non-payment for three months may lead to suspension of the driver’s license, and after six months, the individual’s CNIC could be blocked.

Many a cars are plying our roads have not been transferred officially, plus many drivers have no driving licence, which will possibly lead to the violation being sent to the wrong address. One solution used successfully globally is that facial recognition software be used and every driver should have a registered mobile number where the summons can be sent directly via sms. Opening this text will not only take any violator to a link where not only picture of driver + car can be seen at the time of any rule breaking, but will stand up in any court, plus saving trafficpolice millionsin saved revenues. Our mail delivery system is simply not up to par to deliver hundreds of challans within the alloted time everyday as the mailing addresses could be from outside city.
I want to this implemented on the rich and govt cars. The common man is forced to pay the challans/ violations. Those people skew the law always
Agree.
Do this for buses rikshaw motorcycle how they’re riding every day cause accidents… rule for every one ..also for a speed
First maintained the City with proper Roads network then start e challans. Also fine the Govt. Officials to pay for these. Most violators don’t have CNICs and hometown address which will be never be delivered.
It is really appreciable to control traffic violation on main city roads. About side lane all violation will shift with crime in streets.
As, usual. It would be implemented on weak and common men. Therefore, would loose its effectiveness.

They can’t maintain a simple traffic signal system……and now money is being wasted on this…. amazing.
