Chicken Prices Increase in Karachi

The price of chicken in the city has surged sharply, with poultry meat becoming less affordable for consumers. Over the past week, chicken meat has risen by Rs60 per kilogram, while the price of live chicken has increased by Rs40 per kilogram.

In retail markets, chicken meat is now being sold for around Rs 650 per kilogram, and live chicken is priced at Rs 440 per kilogram. This is notably higher than the official rates, which are set at Rs615 per kilogram for chicken meat and Rs404 per kilogram for live chicken.

According to poultry industry representative Imtiaz Ahmed, the hike in prices is driven by a spike in demand coupled with reduced supply.
