Electricity consumers may get relief as the government is considering raising the protected consumption limit from 200 to 300 units.
The proposal comes after lawmakers told Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that consumers using 201 units were facing an additional Rs. 5,000 on their bills, calling it an injustice.
If approved, the higher tariff would only apply to those consuming above 300 units.
A high-level committee is expected to review the categories of protected and non-protected consumers and recommend the revised limit.
