Kuwait Eases Family Visit Visa Requirements

Kuwait has scrapped its minimum income requirement for foreign residents wishing to bring family members on visit visas, as part of new entry rule reforms designed to promote openness and strengthen social connections, officials confirmed this week.

According to Col. Abdulaziz Al Kandari from the General Residency Department’s Electronic Services Administration, the decision removes a long-standing condition that required expatriates to meet a set salary threshold before sponsoring relatives. Under the updated policy, any legal resident in Kuwait can invite family members to visit, regardless of income level.

The reforms also broaden the scope of eligible visitors to include relatives up to the fourth degree of kinship and in-laws up to the third degree, going beyond immediate family members. Additionally, the rule requiring visitors to arrive exclusively via Kuwait’s national airline has been revoked.

Acting Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al Yousuf has directed that the “national carrier” restriction be lifted, enabling visitors to enter Kuwait through land, sea, or air using any airline.

Col. Al Kandari highlighted that these steps are intended to simplify procedures and reinforce family ties, underscoring Kuwait’s commitment to greater accessibility and ease of movement for residents and their loved ones.
