Police have arrested an individual accused of blackmailing government officers by pretending to be the head of the Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell.
The suspect, identified as Salman Nawaz, reportedly called the CEO Health Bahawalpur and demanded Rs50,000, using threats to pressure the official. He is also alleged to have contacted the assistant commissioner of Jampur with similar extortion attempts.
Authorities say Salman Nawaz misrepresented himself as the Complaint Cell’s incharge to intimidate and extract money from public servants. Following instructions from Chairman CM Complaint Cell Shoaib Mirza, law enforcement acted quickly and arrested the suspect within 24 hours of receiving the complaint.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine whether the accused has been involved in other such incidents.
