Rabies Claims Six Lives in Karachi Amid Surge in Dog Bite Cases

Six people in Karachi have lost their lives to rabies following dog bite incidents between May and August. Hospital sources report that three of the victims were being treated at Jinnah Hospital, while the other three were admitted to Korangi Trust Hospital.

So far this year, rabies-related fatalities in Sindh have climbed to 14, according to officials. Of these, eight deaths occurred at Jinnah Hospital and six at Korangi Trust Hospital.

Authorities also revealed that over 22,000 dog bite cases have been recorded throughout Sindh since the beginning of the year.

Health professionals emphasize that quick first aid is crucial after a dog bite. They recommend thoroughly washing the wound with soap and water for at least 15 minutes to help reduce the chance of infection.

It is also vital to complete the entire anti-rabies vaccination schedule to avoid serious health risks.

Experts strongly advise seeing a doctor right away after a dog bite to ensure proper treatment and prevent possible infections.
