India Issues Massive Flood Warning for Pakistan

India has formally alerted Pakistan about the risk of major flooding under the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT). According to details, New Delhi conveyed the warning through official channels, cautioning Islamabad about a potential flood situation in the Tawi River near Jammu. The information was shared on August 24 at 10:00 AM as part of treaty obligations.

The development comes despite India’s earlier announcement regarding the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty. Officials confirmed that the Indian High Commission in Islamabad still issued the warning to Pakistani authorities.

Back in April, New Delhi not only declared the suspension of the treaty but also ordered Pakistani nationals living in India to leave within 48 hours. At the same time, Indian authorities shut down the Attari and Wagah border crossings and revoked the SAARC visa exemption facility for Pakistani citizens.

It is worth mentioning that Pakistan had taken the matter of India’s construction of water reservoirs on western rivers to the Court of Arbitration in 2016. India, in response, sought the appointment of a neutral expert by the court.
