The Planning and Development (P&D) Board has approved the rental of 15,000 tablets to conduct a province-wide socio-economic survey, 24NewsHD reported on Tuesday.
According to the details, each tablet will be rented for Rs 2,500 per month, bringing the total annual expenditure to Rs 450 million. The devices will be supplied by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) under an agreement that is expected to be signed shortly between the two institutions.

The survey will be jointly executed by the Punjab Bureau of Statistics and the Urban Unit, with teams tasked to collect socio-economic information through a house-to-house survey.
Officials stated that the collected data will enable the Punjab government to adopt evidence-based policymaking. Future welfare programs and development schemes will be designed and delivered based on accurate data, ensuring targeted support for beneficiaries.
