Schools in Punjab City Closed for Seven Days Amid Flood Emergency

All educational institutions in Kot Momin Tehsil of Sargodha have been ordered to remain closed for seven days due to the ongoing flood crisis. A formal notification has been issued, confirming that schools will stay closed until September 2.

Authorities said the decision was made to ensure the safety of children and prevent any risk of harm as water levels continue to rise in the region.

Punjab is currently facing a severe flood emergency, with the Sutlej, Ravi, and Chenab rivers overflowing and submerging several nearby villages. Thousands of acres of standing crops have been destroyed, adding to the devastation.

The Punjab government has declared an emergency in multiple districts, while the Pakistan Army has been deployed to assist with relief and rescue operations.

Officials noted that the current flood situation escalated after India released water into Pakistani rivers without prior notice, worsening the crisis for local communities.

Rescue authorities have warned that if water levels keep rising, more districts could face similar closures and evacuations in the coming days.
