CDA Approves Major Upgrade of Emergency Services in Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved a comprehensive plan to upgrade emergency services in Islamabad, aimed at strengthening disaster response and improving public safety. The decisions were made during the 15th meeting of the CDA Board held on Wednesday.

Under the plan, a modern Emergency Operations Center will be established to monitor and coordinate emergency activities in real time. Twelve new rescue stations will be set up across the capital to ensure rapid response, while a motorbike rescue unit with about 50 motorcycles will also be launched to improve access in congested areas.

The board also approved recruitment for vacant positions and specialized training programs for emergency staff.

To modernize operations, CDA will acquire advanced rescue vehicles, water rescue vans, and other equipment, with technical support from the National Disaster Management Authority for vetting. Approval was also granted for finalizing Capital Emergency Service Regulations.

In addition, the board authorized the hiring of a consultant to help Islamabad benefit from international carbon credit mechanisms. This initiative is expected to highlight the city’s efforts in afforestation, forest conservation, and pollution control.
