Punjab Deploys Thermal Drones to Rescue Flood Victims

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has praised the Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA) for deploying thermal drones to assist in flood relief operations across the province.

According to officials, thermal imaging drones were used to locate stranded citizens and livestock in several flood-hit districts, including Sialkot, Sargodha, Gujrat, and Jhang. The technology enabled rescue teams to identify people trapped in inaccessible areas and coordinate timely evacuations.

Authorities reported that more than 800 rescue cases were successfully managed through the drone-assisted operations. The initiative marks one of the largest uses of surveillance technology in disaster response in Punjab.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, in a statement, commended the PSCA team for their efforts, noting that the integration of advanced drone technology with the Safe City surveillance network has strengthened the province’s emergency response capabilities.

Officials confirmed that the drone operations will continue as forecasts warn of further rainfall and the risk of rising floodwaters. Relief teams are maintaining vigilance to provide immediate assistance to affected communities.
