Rupee Extends Longest Gaining Streak Against US Dollar

The Pakistani Rupee continued its upward trajectory on Wednesday, appreciating by 2 paisas against the US Dollar in interbank trading. The currency closed at Rs. 281.70, slightly stronger than the previous day’s closing of Rs. 281.72. This marks the rupee’s 19th consecutive gain against the greenback.

Since August 6, 2025, the rupee has gained a total of Rs. 0.96 against the US dollar, reflecting a steady improvement in its value.

In the open market, however, the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP) reported the dollar’s buying and selling rates at Rs. 282.6 and Rs. 283.4, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Euro saw an increase of 33 paisas, closing at Rs. 328.33 compared to the previous day’s Rs. 328.03, according to data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

The Japanese Yen remained stable at Rs. 1.89, while the British Pound experienced a notable rise of 58 paisas, closing at Rs. 377.74 against the prior day’s Rs. 377.16.


  • Gain is very little. At least it is not rising. Any big amount of dollar depreciation will give rise to import of luxuries.
