The District Education Authority has issued a notification extending holidays in educational institutions of flood-affected areas in Hafizabad’s Pindi Bhattian.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of Education, schools in 111 flood-hit villages will remain closed until September 12. He said the extension was necessary because many school buildings had been damaged by floodwater. Schools in these villages will only reopen once the structures are inspected and declared safe.
The notification confirmed that all primary, middle, and high schools in the affected areas will stay shut due to the ongoing flood situation.
Meanwhile, data from the Punjab School Education Department shows that across the province, 2,925 government schools are closed because of floods. Of these, 817 schools were partially damaged and 45 were completely destroyed, while more than 1,700 schools have been converted into flood relief camps.
