Nearly 3,000 Govt Schools Closed Across Punjab

The School Education Department of Punjab has reported that 2,925 government schools across the province have been shut down due to ongoing floods.

According to Secretary of School Education Khalid Nazir Wattoo, 1,151 schools have sustained damage from the disaster, with 817 partially affected and 45 completely destroyed. Additionally, over 1,700 schools have been converted into flood relief camps, further halting regular classes.

Wattoo confirmed that both boys’ and girls’ schools are impacted, with 1,505 girls’ schools and 1,420 boys’ schools currently closed. The closures have disrupted the education of more than 680,000 students, particularly in the districts of Gujrat, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Multan, where a large number of schools remain non-functional.
