Continuous heavy rainfall in Karachi and other parts of Sindh on Thursday led to water accumulation in several areas, prompting Karachi Traffic Police to announce an alternate traffic plan for commuters.
According to reports, roads around MR Kiyani Chowk, Fawara Chowk, and Metropole have been inundated, while standing water was also observed at Tower, II Chundrigar Road, Kemari, and Mauripur. Rainfall persisted in Nazimabad, Liaquatabad, Gulbahar, and surrounding areas, worsening the traffic situation.
A spokesperson for Karachi Traffic Police said vehicles traveling from Rashid Minhas Road toward New Karachi can use Godhra via Shafiq Mor. Similarly, commuters heading from Sakhi Hassan to Nagan Chowrangi have been advised to take the Qalandria Chowk and Anda Mor route.
Traffic from Board Office is being diverted to KDA Chowrangi and onwards to Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan, while vehicles from North Nazimabad’s Landi Kotal Chowrangi and Peoples Chowrangi can also reach New Karachi via Shafiq Mor.
Authorities confirmed that intermittent rainfall continues across various parts of the city, urging citizens to follow the suggested diversions to avoid congestion.
