EU Appoints New Ambassador in Pakistan

The European Union has appointed a new ambassador to Pakistan. Raimundas Karoblis has formally taken charge as the new Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Pakistan, presenting his credentials to President Asif Ali Zardari on September 10, 2025.

According to details, Ambassador Karoblis has over 30 years of experience in diplomacy, international trade, and security. Before his posting in Islamabad, he served as the EU Ambassador to Tajikistan from 2022 to 2025.

Karoblis has held several senior positions during his diplomatic career in Lithuania. He worked as Deputy Minister, handling EU affairs, foreign trade, and sanctions, and also served as Lithuania’s Permanent Representative to the European Union from 2010 to 2015. From 2016 to 2020, he was appointed as Lithuania’s Minister of National Defence, where he oversaw key matters related to defence and national security.

The new envoy is a law graduate from Vilnius University. Apart from Lithuanian, he is fluent in English and has working knowledge of French and Russian. In his personal time, he enjoys cycling, hiking, and cultural activities.

His appointment is expected to further strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and the European Union, particularly in areas of trade, security, and cultural cooperation.
