The Peshawar Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) has released the results of the class 11 examinations, showing a pass rate of just 44 percent.
According to official figures, 66,695 students appeared in the exams, of which 29,487 passed, while 37,208 were unable to clear their papers.
Sources said that nearly 56 percent of students will have to reappear in the upcoming second annual examinations.
As per the current promotion policy, students who failed will still be moved up to the 12th grade, despite not clearing all their subjects.
The class 11 results were announced last month on August 30, along with the other Khyber Pakhtunkhwa boards.
