The Punjab Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved five new development projects worth Rs. 9.3 billion, focusing on skill development, governance, and improved citizen services.
The approval came during the PDWP’s 26th meeting, chaired by Planning and Development Board Chairman Dr. Naeem Rauf.
Among the major projects, the board cleared Rs. 2.5 billion for expanding construction and hospitality labs under TEVTA to boost vocational training. A significant allocation of Rs. 5.8 billion was also approved for the revamping and upgradation of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s PPIC3 project in Lahore.
Other approvals included the establishment of a Government College of Technology in Mandi Bahauddin at a cost of nearly Rs. 1 billion, as well as initiatives to set up a resource and training center for Punjab Assembly members and a citizen-centric legal assistance system.
Additionally, the PDWP endorsed the second phase of a smart safe cities project to be rolled out in 19 districts. The meeting was attended by senior provincial officials, including the P&D Board Secretary, the Chief Economist, and representatives from skill development and price control departments.
