The Punjab government is set to launch an electric bus service in Wazirabad on September 17, 2025. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif will inaugurate the project, which marks the first time the city will receive modern, eco-friendly public transport.
Officials said the service will improve daily commuting for thousands of passengers by offering affordable and environment-friendly travel options. The buses will operate on major city routes, with fifteen vehicles running in the first phase.
Authorities expect the project to serve nearly 100,000 commuters every day, reducing traffic congestion and cutting down pollution. The announcement comes a day after the CM inaugurated the Green Electric Bus Service in Mianwali.
Maryam Nawaz that the initiative would gradually expand across Punjab, bringing modern and sustainable transport facilities to more districts.
