Governor Balochistan Endorses PakEco Partnership for HKC Compliant Ship Recycling Yard in Gadani

A high-level delegation from PakEco Marine Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and Dubai-Based PakEco Ship Recycling Pvt. Ltd. met with H.E. Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Governor of Balochistan, at Governor House Quetta to discuss the revival and modernization of the Gadani Ship Recycling Yard.

The delegation, led by Raja Taimur Rehman, Managing Director of PakEco Marine Solutions, briefed the Governor on the group’s plans to establish a state-of-the-art, Hong Kong Convention (HKC)-compliant green ship recycling facility in Gadani. The project aims to bring foreign direct investment (FDI), create thousands of local jobs, and position Gadani as a global hub for sustainable ship recycling.

The meeting was facilitated by Sardar Shaukat Aziz Popalzai, President of the Balochistan Economic Forum, and was also attended by Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Balochistan Minister for Finance and Mines and Mineral Development, and Raja Hashim Rehman, Executive Director, PakEco Marine Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

Governor Mandokhail expressed his support for the initiative, noting that the project aligns with Balochistan’s vision for industrial growth, employment generation, and environmental compliance.

This initiative marks a key step toward reviving Gadani’s global standing and ensuring its compliance with international environmental and labor standards in the post-HKC era.
