PDMA Issues Rain Alert Across Sindh

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh has issued a province wide alert as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast rain and thunderstorms across several parts of the province through July 25.

PDMA Sindh Director General Syed Salman Shah said strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea are likely to trigger widespread rainfall, with heavy downpours expected in isolated areas of Hyderabad, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Sanghar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Jamshoro, and Shaheed Benazirabad.

The PMD has also forecast light to moderate rain in Ghotki, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Sukkur, and Khairpur, while Larkana, Naushahro Feroze, and Thatta are expected to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms.

The PDMA has directed all district administrations, relevant departments, and emergency response agencies to remain on high alert and take precautionary measures.

Authorities have warned that strong winds and lightning could damage vulnerable structures, electricity poles, solar panels, and billboards. The PDMA has urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather and follow official safety advisories.
