RDA Registers FIR Against Famous Housing Scheme in Rawalpindi

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the owners of Wazir Town Housing Scheme for continuing illegal construction despite repeated warnings.

The case was registered at Chaklala Police Station on the directions of RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza.According to officials, the scheme owners had already been served notices and their properties sealed for violating approved maps and plans.

However, construction work continued without mandatory approvals and No Objection Certificates (NOCs), which RDA said was a violation of the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2021.

DG Murtaza has instructed the Land Use and Building Control (LU&BC) Wing to adopt a zero-tolerance approach toward unauthorized housing schemes, illegal commercial activity, and encroachments. She also directed the wing to recover fees and charges for the regularization of unlawful residential and commercial structures within RDA’s jurisdiction.

An RDA spokesperson said the crackdown is aimed at protecting the public from fraud and safeguarding investments. The authority has also urged citizens to voluntarily remove encroachments to avoid penalties and losses.
